Tamasha - a personal review

Tamasha - a personal review

The movie is based on a middle class person's dream which he/she seeks to escape into an virtual reality.
I would like to split the movie in 2 parts- Before Interval and After Interval. But before that let us discuss the pros and cons of the movie.
Pros
# The best thing about the movie is its Music which was composed by the maestro A R Rahman and Cinematography- S. Ravi Varman and team deserves standing ovation for their work.

# The movie upto the interval is fast paced, poised and balanced with occasional flips and flops but the story stays good till the very end of the first phase of the movie.
# Acting of Deepika as Tara and Ranbir as Ved are good but not great.
# Editing by Tamasha team was good and deserves thumbs up.
# Piyush Mishra's role as the story teller was as solid as it could have got. Some of the dialogues told by him in the first half of the movie seemed remarkable and blended with soothing music felt mesmerising.
Cons
# Direction: Not at par with Imtiaz Ali's previous directorial whether Rockstar or JWM. It was at par to his movie like Socha Na Tha but I expected better.

# The movie becomes a monotonous gloom after the interval. Maybe because of the trailer but it was obvious that the movie would end with a positive note. There was no twist or turn like his movies namely Highway, Rockstar or JWM. Even Socha Na Tha was better in terms of that.
# Dhanush's performance in Moonu or 3 was the best acting I ever saw whenever I think of split personality. Ranbir wasn't even near that.
# unlike Imitiaz Ali's other movie there was nothing new, fresh or surprising about the movie except Corsica.
Now let me give you a glimpse on the storyline. It's no doubt a love story.
In the first half of the movie, the movie seemed immensely interesting. The entire Tamasha crew deserves applause for certain scenes in Corsica like the one in which Ranbir plays football with some local kids and Deepika jut sits on the paved floor and acts so naturally. That entire shot was an epic one.
The first half was full of music and flowed smoothly and the music, acting and the entire stuff looked admissibly beautiful.

Piyush Mishra started to weave a story with beautiful overlaps and the boyhood of Ved started to breathe within that tale. But life is beyond childhood. Ved grows up into a handsome and meets Tara in the dreamland called Corsica. They live like Don and Mona in the cascade of Corcisa's scintillating world of life, freedom and joy. With a promise never to meet they depart from eachother's company.
Tara aka Mona can't forget Don. Time ages Tara and then...well, then the inevitable happens Ranbir tries to deliver, do delivers till the interval but thats it. He falls apart taking the story alongwith him. Only except certain sparks of great acting Ranbir floats on the linearity of good acting and slowly sinks throughout the part beyond the interval in a sea of monotone. Good movie but Tamasha team had elements to do a way better movie.
Ratings:
Before Interval- + Acting- Ranbir- 7/10 , Deepika- 9/10
+ Music- 9.5/10
+ Cinematography- 9.5/10
+ Direction- 8.5/10
+ Editing- 9.5/10

After Interval- +Acting- Ranbir- 5.5/10, Deepika- 7/10
+Music- 8.5/10
+Cinematography-9/10
+Direction-5.5/10
+Editing- 7/10

Its a good movie. It's an one time watch talking about discussing mostly about how moderate class people sacrifices their dreams. They just live and die staying average their entire life. An honest movie with an illusive conclusion.
My Say: Life is real, not a fable. Better work and live, rather than running after illusions and perish while trying. Thank You.

I Just Wish I Won't Regret...

the decisions i make, the path I take
I just wish i never regret
the life i live, the songs i sing
I just wish I would never forget

some days i dream of a summer long
some nights i sweat the warmth gone
a day will come when my world ends
that day I wish to come soon and end

i just hope from the ashes borne
i will re-emerge like the flickering dawn
and shine amidst the darkness forged
I would learn to fly once again
the decisions i make, the path I take
I just wish i never regret
Melancholist by ANINDYA GANGULY

From the broken crevices of a silent dawn
When one seeks into the creaks of a lonesome heart,
There lives a vagabond striding the lanes where he is soon to tread.
The magma of a colonialist’s notion remains putrid from the past;
The fate yearned from his dormant dreams.
Surviving is a sordid fallacy of a creator’s charm,
Of a man’s hopes trapped in a seine of dampened loin.
Time bequeaths a master seeking to the honor of being served.
His imperialistic ideologies stumble across his coercing thoughts
Drawn upon to experiment over the valor’s wit and courage.

The foe of a felony is too a crime of the convict yet to subsist
Quite a charming is his thoughts in the lane of a pious mind
The complexity of a simple plan never works, ever say
Where is the dormant desire stored of a lover living through?
The dungeons of a Satan’s doom waits upon Gabriel’s arrival.
As forever time leaps upon the trenchancy of a Universe’s life.
Nothing to live for, nothing to die with,
is the melancholic tragedy of a Soloist’s ephemeral existence.

FALLACIES… BY A SOLOIST

AS MEN MOUNT THE STEPS TO THE TOWER OF FALLACY
A SACRED GLOOM LURKS IN THE SADDLE POINT
OF FAITH AND FELONY BLOOMING CANONICALLY
IN THE COHESIVE THOUGHTS OF A BRITTLE BLOOM.
THE MENTOR OF THE JOURNEY HAS GONE INTO HIDING
LEAVING THE COMRADES TO TREAD THE BROKEN PATH ALONE
FORGED BY MALADIES OF ITS SWANKY INHABITANTS.
THE VISTA OF HOPE THAT’S LOOMS IN THEIR VICINITY
MAY SOON FADE AWAY IF LEFT IGNORED AND UNTOUCHED
A DECISION HAS TO BE MADE, MAY BE RIGHT, MAY BE …

AS WE DISCOVER THE ZENITH OF TRANSFORMATION
AWAITING THE CALL OF AN OPTIMIST’S JUSTICE
VERACIOUS FANTASIES ERUPT IN THE SOLOIST’S THOUGHTS
ENGULFING HIM IN THE SHADOWS OF AN ENIGMA
WHETHER TO STEP AHEAD OR PROBE THE PAST
DOUBT GRIPS HIS VYING SENSES, PULLING HIM IN
INTO THE OCEAN WHERE QUERY LINGERS IN THE ARMS OF TRUTH
FATE IS DROWNED AS FAITH IS FOUND IN THOSE SECRET SHALLOWS
DOOM THOUGH FORESEEN CAN BE FORGOTTEN
AS A NEW DAWN AWAKENS IN THE VIGILS OF A SACRED TOMORROW
Some Quotes

Meddling with thou thoughts, Fed-ling with thou dreams
There lies the questions to the periphery of thou answers....

Once in a while my tame-less heart ponders into those gullying domains...

Where my aims once strayed when life was some-what younger....

Some moments left to grow, some peaks still to mount
Some days yet to live, some nights never to sleep
May be life tumbles on its wobbly-bubbly path once in a while...
But hope would always breed within the crescent of my will

Sweeney Todd- A personal review (1/5) starring Johnny Depp

One of Depp's most gruesome movies I ever came across. I felt quite sad to watch the film. How does IMDB review gives it 7.5/10, I have no clue.
Isn't there something called Being Happy? The movie fails to shade light over that fact. Its one of the most depressing movies I ever came across. I think it would be the only Depp's movie, I would recommend you not to watch, for the time being. The movie lacks the greatest gift bestowed to mankind..Life.
Blood, deaths and murders filled with a hollow depressive aura that's where the movie floats. It was a pain to see throats cut off like jokes. I think before having a shave by a barber next time, I would have to think twice!!!
Tim Burton failed to impress me with his creativity. I don't know why Depp got accolades for Sweeney Todd because I have seen him perform way better in many of his other movies.
It would certainly make my list of Movies Never To Watch Again!!!!!

t's kind of a funny story- A personal review (3/5)

A non-grossy romantic drama movie after a long time with flinches of comedy to by-pass. Mr. Hangover coupled with Ms. Nancy Drew in their own avatars would keep you in tune to the screen (in which you are watching). The movie deserves more star than I gave, may be because the story was so connected to a teenager as well to struggling adults who fail to cope with their stress I felt, it somehow would connect to most, though not to many.
It's a movie to get chillaxed with...
Pages of a burnt diary 2

Needed a guitar, beer and something more
Fire was blazing through my pulses
As I calmly laid ricocheting to and fro
on an age old arm chair of my daddy's days
I found myself gasping for more.

Few words were scribbled on my chest
some remained to be inscribed
Those stares still burned me
Somehow, somewhere, sometimes.
A word was never told, a phrase left midway
Intensity of my breathes was subtle
as was my etching heartbeats.

Drowning the smoke into the diaphragm's cage
I gazed upon the sea of blood flowing next to me
Was I living in virtual reality or the other way round
I might never know, but life was still pumping
Sloppily, Squeamishly in its own tread of fate
End was near, so was hope for a fresh initiation.
Near, yet so far, That's all I had to say
Thats all J had to say...

Pages of a Burnt Diary

As I whisper the smoke inside.
My lips burn in the ashes of memories.
Chill? Yes it has been dead for years.

Music? Silence plays alone in its tune.
If solitude is painful, then why live it?
I ponder. But emotions seems to be dead.
I continue to encroach my heart.
Few songs I will never write;
Many lyrics are already lost like me;
Just as I burn today , soon you shall burn
Too, someday by someone.

Where is the crowd chanting the calls?
The voices pep-talking before the parting;
Stories being crafted on you. on me;
Where are they hiding today? I pause,
I think, I stare upon the dark sky.
The crescent moon seems to hide.
Like you, hiding among the stars.
In the morose of destiny, fate, religion
It seemed too obvious; precisely inevitable.

Smile lurking on the lips is temporary.
Tears bring a moment of brief solace.
Death? Ha! It is irreparable.
You still live like me. In our seined cocoons.
The lit-bomb ticks off with mild hisses,
But I never as always "care".
I ain't Bob Dylan for the world to miss me.

I see you still smiling millions moments past,
Standing ridges apart in platforms parallel
As tracks run forever never to meet
Beckoning upon me the message satirically
You too shall never meet and live "us".

I still smile as I notice you smiling back.
We both know the truth, the fire still burns
This is perhaps life, this is perhaps living

I smile, you smile, We smile. No Goodbyes.
Zindagi jaane aisa kyun hai
Waqt ke saath saath chalta nahi
Na karo to khud se kuchh pata nahi
Khudh ka na koi wajood na koi thikana

Humare khhandhe pe sar rakh ke chalna chahe humesha
Teri chahat, teri nafrat saab kuch main kyun tai karu
Tere jeene ka tareeka main kyun uski khabar rakhun

Aasma bhi itna uncha hai, Zameen bhi itni gehri hai
Samundar ke niche daba huwa raeth ki tarah, tu kyun jeeta hai
Zindagi tu aisa kyun hai

Pyaar naa karu main tujhse, tujhe khone ko main nahi daroon
Teri har mushkurahat, mithi choori jaise cheerri hai mujhe
Tu na samajh, nadaan hai, main jaanoon ye baat
Par main to koi bewakoof khilona nahi
Jise behla, fusla ke tu humesha manaye rakhe
Samay ke bawander main faans ke nikla hoon main
Zindagi aise jeeta hoon main
Fir kyun tu aise jeeta hai?

Myself

Choice of decision and decisions to choose is an act of patience..little bit of courage from within would define your course of life. Trust me, I am trying my level daily to implement it. Often I fail, but in the end every thing is OK. Life is Ok..

Its is always us who defines our present and future...past is inevitably going to end up being same howsoever we try to fix it. So be brave, be honest, fight for your rights, never give up on who you truly are,..Life is one and mistakes too many...But there comes always an end to making more mistakes...its always upto you when or where you want to stop it. Sometimes losing something or someone also renders you with peace and the greatest gift that all mankind have....i.e. Hope
Asmaan mein pila gola liye chal raha pal pal humari zindagi
Woh chahe toh roshni bikharta hai
Woh chahe toh pashene chhoot ta hai
Shaam bhi aati hi, jab wo jaane ki fursat kaare
Aur raat, woh bss har pal bhar ka mehmaan hota hai
Pila gole main saayad dil nahi hai
Woh maano apni gaam ki chingari main hi jalta rehta hai

Tanu weds Manu returns

Tanu weds Manu returns- a personal review (2.75/5)
For the starter, TwMr is just a well cooked masala movie, an extravagant entertainer and nothing more.
Unlike TwM, its sequal is predictable at times and at the end a let down. Maybe I was expecting too much, may be I didn't see what I wanted to see, may be. Anyways, its a hilarious sequal, and some of the scenes are grafted too casually it feels, otherwise the movie is pretty good. The double-Kangna effect is multi-dimensional, arrogant and sweet. But we have seen such Sitas and Geetas in different manne in the past.
The facts about relationships is brought often in the forms of dialogues, that's the only cliché I found. Crisis doesn't pops out in life suddenly, atleast not when you project a responsible, mature adult. In real life, I mean in a relationship, I believe we don't talk, we just walk out of our relationships. We just can't dwindle in-between without getting frustrated to the point of suicide. We are too scared to do it.
appeared.
Where is that Manu Sharma!! He just bypassed through these emotions and drops down reiterate a new love story, with Tanu's doppleganger.
Well, in reality, We just learn to move on, I mean they just glided through these aspects of a person's emotion. He just accepted the hardliners of life and jumped to build a new relationship on the first opportunity he got.At 40 especially, when the World calls you perverts, world phrases out one as Tharki-Buddha, you feign deaf but maintain a caution since you are part of a respectable society. Thats how Manu was in the prequal. Manu is too filmsical and whimsical and maybe too jumpy and silent. A real life Manu isn't so.
These things never reach the surface, or even doesn't scatch the surface, the way it really should have done. May be it never really happens in life. But, From a movie point of view, this part was acceptable as you tend to overlook it and enjoy the performances of the character. But if you try to correlate with life, yours and your surroundings TwMr fails at many occasions.
The music is cool and live-wired and would make you swing with its flow. The direction is ok but had immense scope of making a great movie with the extremely talented cast it had in hand but I saw some holes, big ones. (6/10)
The characters made TwM alive as they try do the same in its RETURN. They are fun loving, innocent and again, live only in movies, if you ponder a lot, you can feel it. In real life, people are different and self-centric. The selfless Pappi, Kusum, never really exists around as. The world is full of Manus and Tanus.
Anyways, the climax is a let down. A bollywood movie only does this! Lets you climb the peak and then, oops, throws you off the cliff. Learn to make a movie bold and honest! This is what I can say. I mean movies are often called Mirrors to our emotions. This is not-that-kind-of-movie.
Good luck Guys. 😊😉😁
There is nothing as beautiful as travelling on a train, musk of clouds coercing the sky, dark mystic trees milling up the eternal spaces, specks of life here and there, and amidst that you realise you are living, you are breathing the emotions from the early lunch hours of your ever-so-filled up existence. You have everything you desire; life, passion, dreams, courage, wit and willingness to strive for that little taste of success that your heart craves for. Probably, this is just the beginning of a long friendship with life, with my life, with ... and just with fingers crossed, i pray to relive this moment again again, because this defines me as a man, as a craft of the almighty. ‪#‎journey‬ ‪#‎train‬‪#‎seat‬ no.9

Now, let me die

Now, let me die
Now, Let me die
In the arms of death
Where shadows fear to tread
There was a paradise once
Now it is burning, wild and alive
Assuming you know me
I kneel before Thy confronting
My past and my presence here
He is not so submissive
As life was and as death is
A mare neighs seeing me fall
Rising like a falcon, breaking the clouds
Summers of a day and winter of a night
Narrates the song of a defilading heart
Who survives, who know
The memoir of a melancholy heart
Ponders, deems and writes
The song of living in death.

I, Me Forever

I, Me Forever
Light, camera, action, You say
Drama keeps on going
In the palate of endless panaroma

Life and I live lip-locked too
For moments and millenium
Still without doubt you frown
Of my thoughts and words
Deem upon my views and voice
You are so powerful unlike I
You weak counterpart.

Time, again defeat envisages me
You breathe those losses too
No complain, no demand, You say
I burn with you with the wound
You and I together define Us
 Entangled like this, forever.

The Tap

The tap
The tap titters, tips, and toops
Twinkling on the tattering tats
Toots, ticks, and sticks

Toups and teeps all along
Tips-a-tootle-too swoosh
And tau, tittery, tattery, tot

Tinkering like a tanker
Talking as a tweak
Tormenting in thunders
Teething the toothless toe
Ouch! Tampers the teak
Still steel steals till.
To The Missile Man
my heart is shattered as I quill this down
your words shall always be a solace to my dreams
an inspiration to all, a motivation for me

you lived in silence yet held so much prowess

it was my dream to always meet you,
it shall now be a dream for this life
But let us all take energy from your elevated soul
and pour the fire into each others heart

As you dreamed of a greater nation, let us build
As we rise tomorrow let us carve a better world

ANINDYA GANGULY, 27/7/15
Rome
The sky was burning as was my life
I was reliving the scars of Rome
Dire days and gruelling nights
Resonated in its wit-filled tones.

The colour of sky never changed
The words of the Prophet unaltered
I found myself living in Rome
Burning in cries and tears

Whom to blame, whom to care
As I find my whole world collapse
As I tread to my home to Rome
All I fear is to face more fear

Some summers were dry, some bantered high
But I shall always remember the one with you
We were in hand clasped with each other
Watching Rome burn, tampered and frail.
Phantom- a personal review (4/5)
First I feel its a must watch for anyone who condemns 26/11 and hats off to Saif Ali Khan, Katrina Kaif and rest of the cast along with Kabir Khan and co. to script such a magnificent and chivalrous performance. Yes, there were some cliches and some doubts but the script seemed pretty solid and compact. Even a diamond can't be cut with all perfect edges.
Now with the movie, It's basically based on S.Hussain Zaidi's book called Mumbai Avengers. Since I haven't read the book I can't say how different is the movie from the book. The story is pacy and filled with the drama and intensity that the film deserved. Unlike BABY and BANG BANG, this movie seemed more believable and original. There are a few loopholes that can easily be ignored if you look at the story as a whole.
Being a voice to all lovers of India and anti-terrorist activists all across the globe the movie resonates the nationalist and internationalist sentiment that reigns through our emotions whenever any such wretched crime happens around us. Jai Hind. Jai Bharat.
Manjhi- a personal review (2/5)

A good story spoiled by too many angles and issues to draw upon through a personified character. Manjhi reminded me of Kalidas as himself. A fool who stayed a fool throughout his life. Trying to save criminals of autocratic ventures, being thrown off the train just cause he was without ticket and money, suffering forgery from all corners of the state and the country and never protesting, if Dasharath Manjhi was such a simpleton, then he was lucky to survive the atrocities that life showers over a man. Being noble is one stuff, but being stupid is another.

Well, Manjhi is a slow movie which tried to draw the entire crisis that brooded over a class of Indians back in the 50s to 90s period in Bihar and Nothern India. It may be true but half true because good men too existed not just as journalists but as officials of law and govt. too.
To be honest, none of the issues raised in the movie was ever elaborately discussed and Dasharath Manjhi seemed quite unmoved from scene after scene even after facing difficult situations. I think this is a wrong portrayal of a man who was called the Mountain Man. Yes mountain is tolerant and unmoved and above all petty businesses but when mountain is a Man, there has to be a life in the mountain. Manjhi failed to show me that life.

Its a tragedy without much of a humour. There was some laughter in the beginning of the film but it dried out with time. Yes, people have suffered, people are suffering and people would suffer, but instead of trying to eradicate these sufferings breathing within the man kind, Manjhi kept on carving a road out of a mountain! I mean his father and children almost starved to death and you
don't care! That how a hypocrite behaves. And of all I believe Manjhi wasn't an hypocrite.
Well, actors who have hailed from theater and drama schools know how to act so needles to say I mustn't comment on that but I believe the director and the script writer tried to create too much drama into a story which was just a man's tragic tale filled with adamant rage towards the fact called DEATH. It finally turned into his daily routine of constructing a road out of a mountain and lastly it turned into his addiction and finally his life. Manjhi was a OK movie but nothing more than a sad man's lonely loveless saga.

Paper Towns- a personal review

Paper Town- a personal review (3.25/5)

After watching TFIOS and reading Looking For Alaska by John Green, I was a bit reluctant to watch Paper Town. But I was wrong. Its a boy-girl story, its a love story, its a story of getting to know your own self, its a story of friendship but nonetheless I feel glad its not a depressing story. Cheers!

There is Margo aka mRs (who is always upto pretty something) and there is Quentin aka Q (who believes everyone's gets a miracle) . There is Bloody Ben (LMAO!), there is Marcus aka Radar (whose parents own the world's largest collection of Black Santa! ROFL!). Radar, his girlfriend Algela (the hot pretty girl who seems pretty smart) and Lacey (Margo's best friend), Q along with a pretty drunk Ben decide to have  a go on road to find out WHAT REALLY HAPPENED TO MARGO???.

The story begins after Margo Roth Spiegelman moved to Q's neighbourhood and he gets his Zing (apparently). Then they have a moment of glitch(which seemed pretty lame but nevertheless) and after that they take their separate paths. Margo becomes the mythical and mysterious lady, the center of attraction and buzz and Q has turned out to be a nerd, not-so-confident but cute guy-next-door. Both had their own world, own circle and needless to say they lived in different domains of a parallel universe.

But one night out of the blue, their domains overlapped and Margo walked into  Q's room. She had missions to accomplish and wanted Q to be her partner in crime. Initially hesitant, Q agreed and they set out to hunt down their targets. Well, after brief moments of fun, romancing and Margo announcing the town they were living in were filled with Papery people while dancing over Jazz, they retire to their respective dens pretty unscratched and exhausted  but next it is revealed that Margo has gone missing.
Since this was the fifth time Margo had fled from home, her parents seemed to careless and rumours of Margo being spotted at miscellaneous places began to rumour off. Margo had a tendency to leave back clues for ones she cared about when she ventured to her adventures and slowly Q comes to believe that she had left clues to him to find her. In desperation to find her, he slowly breaks rules that he had followed all his life along with his friends and finally they decide to set out to find Margo Roth Spiegelman with the plan to reach back before the Prom. Did they find the Paper town, did they survive this epic adventure, but mostly did they find Margo?
Well Paper Town is a life-changing journey with real and fake characters living in parallel universe which apparently is always colliding with each other.

with hope you like the movie and my review, I bid adieu. Cheers.
